Deadlines for the May 20, 2025, Primary Election
5 p.m. May 13: Your APPLICATION for a mail-in or absentee ballot must be received by your county election office.
8 p.m. May 20: Your county election office must RECEIVE your completed mail ballot by this time. A postmark by 8 p.m. May 20 is not sufficient.
Missed the deadline to apply for your mail ballot? If you have an emergency--such as an unexpected illness or disability or last-minute absence from your municipality--you may still be able to obtain a mail ballot after the May 13 deadline. Find information here about how to get an emergency absentee ballot.
APPLICATIONS FOR 2025 MAIL BALLOTS ARE NOW BEING ACCEPTED
PA requires you to apply annually if you want to vote by mail in that year’s elections. You can apply on line or download a paper application (click here to choose either) The BOE has begun mailing out paper applications for 2025 if you chose that option when applying for a mail ballot previously. It serves as a timely reminder to apply and you have the option to apply on line. If you provide your email address on your application they will send you an email just before mailing your ballot.
Once you complete your ballot you can mail it, but for an even more secure option you can return it to a monitored drop box. As we get closer to the Primary, the BOE will update the drop box locations and hours. We will publish that information here as well.
NOTE: EACH PERSON MUST DELIVER THEIR OWN ENVELOPE at the drop off location which is monitored for compliance. You can designate an “agent” to return your ballot if you are unable to - click here for details.
Here are some tips on properly completing and returning your mail ballot packet
After receiving the ballot, please make every effort to complete your vote and return it back to the BOE without delay. After completing your ballot:
"Seal" your ballot in the yellow Secrecy Envelope. Do not make any marks or write anything on this envelope.
Place the Secrecy Envelope into the outer return envelope.
Seal the outer return envelope.
Sign and Date the form on the back of the outer return envelope; these are required in order for your vote to be counted.
Mail or use one of the secure drop off locations (see above). Your ballot must be received by the BOE by 8PM election day November 5th.
We recommend that if you mail the ballot that you walk the ballot into the Post Office as opposed to using an outside mailbox; this minimizes the risk of theft. Serving Wrightstown are the following Post Offices: Penns Park**, Wycombe**, Pineville and Rushland as well as offices in Newtown** and Furlong**
